We made it through another winter season!! Yay for us!! It won’t feel like spring until our home feels like spring!, We want to share tips to a spring clean, colorful home. We have had our windows closed tight, slowly tracking in snow and salt on our floors for months, while most likely neglecting our fixtures and furniture inside! It’s completely normal and a sure sign of winter hibernation! It’s time to say, “bye-bye winter” and “hello spring”, but before you open those windows to enjoy the season I have a few helpful tips to a spring clean, colorful home!

1: The nitty- gritty

Have you ever heard of the term “spring clean”? Most likely, but how many of us are doing it? To prepare for a new season, it is essential to do a thorough cleaning of your home. Especially after the winter season where our home could be hibernating germs and dust bunnies. The salt builds up from the winter season is most likely lingering somewhere around your home and on your floors. Deep cleaning floors, carpets, walls and furniture will help get rid of any winter remnants and make your home smell so fresh and so clean. Dust and polish light bulbs and fans for a clear shine. Lastly, wash all your windows and screens! Though this chore may sound tedious, you would really be surprised at how dust build up can block natural light from coming into your home!

2: Keep it fresh

Having a vase of fresh flowers on your dining table is one of the easiest ways to brighten, add spring color in to your home. Tulips and daffodils are perfect options as they are inexpensive and come in a variety of colors! Another great way to add some color is by using fresh fruits and vegetables. Lemons and Limes set in a clear decorative bowl on the table or kitchen counter space can add the same WOW factor as a fresh vase of colorful flowers.

3: Change up accessories

This is just as simple as it sounds! Changing up towels in your kitchen and bathroom is one of the easiest ways to add pops of spring color. Add in a few colorful throw pillows that are easy to switch in and out as seasons come and go, and consider incorporating colorful, decorative items that remind you of spring.

4: Light and Bright fabrics

It is time to pack away those heavy, flannel blankets and bring out something a little more breathable, such as cotton, linen, and rayon. Switching out heavy dark curtains that absorb light, for sheer/translucent shades are a great way to allow air and light to flow through during this time

5: Furniture

Bulky furniture can sometimes overwhelm a room, making it feel darker and more crowded than it already is. Swap out a few large furniture items with pieces that have smooth and sleep lines, Translucent furniture is all the rage for light and airy spaces, as well as mirrored surfaces as one lets light directly in and the other is known to bounce light. If you are looking to keep things simple, adding a colorful area rug is a great way to show off a space with out adding a bunch of decorative accessories.

These simple tips should help your achieve a spring clean, colorful home!
